Hi there, I'm Sophie
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the grand plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and rising expectations. Routine tasks felt tougher than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. But over time, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built TerminalRiddleRidge
Most online information was either corporate-relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical know-how gained from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism board resource
- Not a paid review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
We continue our time in Netherlands and the ongoing learning journey. As long as this information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
